Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does this owner kit document a height-adjustable pole for an ordinary pad pass?
Yes. The SF-140 parts diagram and instructions identify the telescoping pole and Extension Lock. The two pads and resting pad are in the listed kit. It remains a discontinued owner-reference product, not an active buying result.
Explore this need in the finder →Do the 10-ounce boiler and 18-foot minimum cord requirement fit?
The exact guide specifies a 10-ounce maximum fill and 18.7-foot cord. An 18-foot threshold is met; a strict 19-foot threshold is not. The boiler must be shut down, unplugged and cooled before opening.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact included kit contain a carpet glider?
No. The manual lists the carpet glider as an optional separately sold accessory (A142-P003). A used listing or different bundle must be inspected separately; the discontinued model is not a buying recommendation.
Explore this need in the finder →The Steamfast SF-140 is a simple, corded upright mop with a small capped boiler and a height-adjustable pole. Its guide describes two reusable pads and a resting pad; the carpet glider is an optional extra, not part of the original included list. Steamfast now says the SF-140 is discontinued and no longer available, so this is an owner-reference assessment rather than a current buy recommendation.
A floor tool with a deliberately small kit
The original guide identifies a telescoping pole, mop head with internal boiler, measuring cup, two microfiber pads, and a resting pad. A foot-operated switch turns the machine on and off. The extension lock lets an owner change pole length for a comfortable mopping stance or shorter storage. The guide does not describe a removable hand unit, hose, detail brushes, glass squeegee, or a separate steam-flow control. If the task is grout, shower glass, or fabric, this is not the same sort of kit as a canister or a convertible mop.
The carpet glider is specifically listed in the parts section as optional and sold separately. The SF-140 can be assessed as an included floor-pad system, but its original box should not be represented as supplying a rug-steaming arrangement. A seller may offer a used unit with the accessory; that is a different package and needs its own contents check. The guide associates the glider with the A142-P003 part number, while the pads have a separate part number. Don't assume every surviving accessory bundle includes both.
Plan the pass around a 10-ounce boiler
Steamfast lists 10 ounces (300 ml) as the usable boiler capacity, approximately three minutes to heat, and approximately 12 minutes of continuous steam. The first two figures in the filling steps add to that maximum: the measuring cup is marked for an initial 8.5-ounce pour, with another 1.5 ounces for the maximum. The steam duration is an approximation from the guide, not a promised cleaning session on every floor or pad.
The manual's table gives an 18.7-foot cord, 3.72-pound unit weight, and dimensions of 11.5 by 7.1 by 47.1 inches. Those are useful comparison facts, but “unit weight” does not specify a complete, water-filled carry condition with pole and accessories; the review therefore does not treat 3.72 pounds as a confirmed assembled carry weight. Measure the cord path around furniture, and leave space to set the hot head on its supplied resting pad rather than leaving it steaming in one spot.
A closed cap sets the refill rhythm
Filling is not a quick top-up while the mop is working. The guide says to switch off, unplug, and wait five to ten minutes after use before opening the cap; it also warns that a recently used boiler can release steam or hot water. Before a longer pause or storage, follow the separate complete-cooling instruction—at least 30 minutes—then empty leftover water and let the parts dry. That is a more deliberate routine than a removable-tank mop, even though the small boiler may suit a short kitchen or entryway pass.
The manual recommends distilled or demineralized water and frequent mineral cleaning if distilled water is not available. Its maintenance section describes cleaning scale from the boiler. It permits only water in the boiler, so never pour a detergent or floor solution into it. Steamfast's general FAQ says tap-water suitability depends on hardness; hard water can leave mineral deposits. The machine has no published selectable steam levels, so surface-maker permission and a cautious test matter more than trying to turn down the output.
Keep flooring permission ahead of convenience
Steamfast lists sealed hardwood, stained concrete, sealed laminate, linoleum, ceramic, granite, marble, slate, and vinyl as common suitable surfaces, while warning against unsealed hardwood and unglazed ceramic. It also warns that heat and moisture can damage sealed hardwood if the mop lingers, that waxed finishes may lose sheen, and that very rough floors can wear the microfiber. Consult the floor maker first, test a discreet area, keep the head moving, and switch the unit off whenever you stop. A pad reduces direct contact but does not make an unapproved finish safe.
Who should keep this reference?
The SF-140 makes most sense to an existing owner who needs a basic padded floor pass, accepts a modest closed-boiler routine, and can still obtain compatible pads. It is a poor fit when adjustable output, supplied carpet tools, a long hose, a detachable detail cleaner, or mid-session refilling is essential. The guide lists a one-year limited warranty for the original purchaser; that historical term does not establish current coverage for a discontinued or used machine.
For a specific replacement search, compare the exact kit rather than assuming a later Steamfast model is interchangeable. The SF-141 uses a different pole arrangement; the SF-142 guide includes a carpet glider, and the SF-145 Clean Mist adds a separate solution tank and floor lights. The newer SF-147 and SF-150 have removable water tanks. Steamfast marks the SF-140 discontinued, so this page is for identifying and caring for an existing unit, not directing shoppers to buy one.

| Controls and operation | The simplest documented arrangement here: capped 10-ounce boiler, telescoping pole, two pads and resting pad; the carpet glider is optional and sold separately. The manual documents a single on/off steam routine, not a separate variable-flow dial. |
| Supplied tools and setups | The simplest documented arrangement here: capped 10-ounce boiler, telescoping pole, two pads and resting pad; the carpet glider is optional and sold separately. Exact included items are determined from the manual list, not from the gallery image; secondhand bundles may be incomplete. |
| Water and care | Consult the flooring maker first, test discreetly, keep the head moving, use the supplied resting pad during pauses, and avoid the manual’s warned-against surfaces such as unsealed hardwood or unglazed ceramic. The guide calls for the unit to be shut off and unplugged before filling; follow the model-specific cool-down, draining and mineral-removal steps. Steam does not recover liquid soil. |
| Exact configuration notes | Steamfast explicitly marks the exact SF-140 product as discontinued/no longer available. This is an owner/model-identification assessment only; it is excluded from current purchase matching. Any historical warranty term is not evidence of present used-unit coverage. |
