Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the SF-145 keep floor solution out of the boiler?
Yes. Its manual gives a separate maximum 6.75-ounce solution reservoir with a foot-operated front spray; the boiler takes water only. The guide lists Cleanfast solution as included but does not give an included quantity.
Explore this need in the finder →What do the four LEDs do?
They illuminate the area ahead of the head when switched on; the manual does not describe dirt detection or steam adjustment. Treat them as visibility lights only.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact SF-145 kit list a carpet glider as well as floor pads?
Yes. The manual’s included list names both two microfiber pads and a carpet glider. The glider is a separate soft-surface pass, not extraction, and Steamfast has discontinued this model.
Explore this need in the finder →The Steamfast SF-145 Clean Mist combines a small steam boiler with a separate hard-floor-solution tank, a foot-operated spray button, four front floor lights, and a carpet glider listed in the original kit. Its manual identifies the appliance as SF-145 F and the current product record as SKU SF-145F. Steamfast marks the product discontinued, so this detailed assessment is for owners and exact-listing identification, not a current buy recommendation.
Keep the two liquids in their own places
The design has two separate reservoirs with different jobs. The internal boiler takes water only; the manual gives 10 ounces (300 ml) as its maximum. A second tank holds Cleanfast HARD FLOOR Solution, with a maximum fill of 6.75 ounces (200 ml). Pressing a separate foot button sprays a burst from the front nozzle, ahead of the mop. The guide specifically warns not to pour solution into the boiler, because doing so could damage the unit or cause injury. This is not a steam mop that accepts arbitrary household detergent.
The manual's included kit list names two microfiber pads, a carpet glider, a resting pad, measuring cup, funnel, and Cleanfast solution, but it does not state the included solution quantity. The spray tank can remain filled for storage according to the guide, while the boiler is drained. Treating both reservoirs as one tank or assuming a 32-ounce bottle is included would confuse the equipment list with the replacement-parts listing.
Lighted floors and a separate soft-surface mode
Four LEDs at the front of the head illuminate the area ahead when the mop's main power is on and the floor-light switch is pressed. That is a visibility feature, not evidence that the beam identifies dirt or changes steam output. The manual describes the carpet glider as a separate fit over the microfiber-pad setup: the head rests in the glider and is pushed along carpet or rugs. It does not recover water or loose soil. Remove the glider for the ordinary floor-pad pass, use solution only for the hard-floor solution-spray routine, and keep the flooring or rug maker's guidance ahead of any generic product claim.
The hard-floor guide lists sealed hardwood, stained concrete, sealed laminate, linoleum, ceramic, granite, marble, slate, and tile. It warns against unsealed wood and unglazed ceramic, warns that waxed finishes may lose sheen, and says not to leave steam resting on one spot. The optional/extra complexity of solution does not make an uncertain finish safe. Test discreetly, keep the machine moving, and do not use a steam glider on a rug that the maker says cannot tolerate heat and moisture.
Small boiler, more controls, more care
Steamfast lists approximately three minutes of heating and approximately 12 minutes of continuous steam from the 10-ounce boiler. The guide also lists an 18.7-foot cord, 4.6-pound unit weight, and dimensions of 11.5 by 7.1 by 50.4 inches. The times are approximate manufacturer values, and the weight line does not define a fully assembled, filled carry condition. There is no variable steam-level control in the documented parts list. The buttons independently control main power, floor lights, and solution spray; an owner is coordinating a little more than a one-button pad mop.
The solution nozzle does not replace the microfiber pad: the instruction is to spray a tough hard-floor area, then continue mopping normally. If a consumer wants steam only, the solution tank can simply be left unfilled. If they require variable steam, a detachable hand unit, or a current replacement parts guarantee, the SF-145 does not solve those needs.
Refill and storage are still boiler routines
For water, switch off, unplug, and wait at least five minutes before opening the boiler; make sure it is empty before adding a new measured fill. Steamfast recommends distilled or demineralized water and monthly boiler descaling. For storage, the manual calls for full cooling (30 minutes), draining water from the boiler, and keeping the mop and damp pad dry. The solution reservoir need not be drained. Neither the lights nor the second tank means the boiler can be refilled while the machine is steaming.
Compared with the SF-142, the SF-145 adds the solution circuit and lights while retaining a carpet-glider route. The SF-140 and SF-141 are simpler and do not include the glider; the SF-147 and SF-150 shift to a removable 12-ounce water tank, but their guides do not document a solution sprayer or included carpet glider. Steamfast explicitly says the SF-145 is discontinued. Its original one-year warranty statement does not establish coverage on a used unit today.
Key details at a glance
| Machine arrangement | Upright steam mop |
|---|---|
| Nominal water capacity | 10 US fl oz |
| Documented power-cord length | 18.7 ft |
| Separate variable-flow control | No |
| Flow-adjustment location | No separate variable-flow dial |
| Pressure gauge | No |
| Lockable steam output | No |
| Refilling during use | No |
| Controls and operation | The front floor lights and solution-spray circuit have separate switches/buttons; neither changes boiler steam intensity. The boiler remains a 10-ounce closed-cap system. |
| Supplied tools and setups | This is not simply another SF-142: the exact SF-145 F adds the separately switched front LEDs and Cleanfast floor-solution spray circuit, while retaining a glider and capped 10-ounce steam boiler. Exact included items are determined from the manual list, not from the gallery image; secondhand bundles may be incomplete. |
| Water and care | Water only belongs in the 10-ounce boiler. The separate Cleanfast HARD FLOOR Solution tank is a maximum 6.75 ounces; manual warns against adding floor solution to the boiler. It lists Cleanfast solution without specifying quantity. Keep the head moving and check surface-maker permission; use floor solution only in its documented hard-floor spray routine, not with the carpet glider. |
| Exact configuration notes | Steamfast explicitly marks the exact SF-145 F product as discontinued/no longer available. This is an owner/model-identification assessment only; it is excluded from current purchase matching. Any historical warranty term is not evidence of present used-unit coverage. |
