Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the exact SF-320 kit cover separate detail and compatible-fabric tasks?
Yes. The manual lists jet/brush tools and a fabric nozzle as separate setups; Steamfast warns to check the material maker and test sensitive fabrics.
Explore this need in the finder →Do 33 ounces of maximum fill and a 13-foot power cord meet these minimums?
Yes. The guide lists 33 ounces and 13.1 feet; it does not establish a longer cord or a steam-hose measurement.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the manual show hands-free continuous output without claiming refill during use?
Yes. The trigger can be locked down for continuous output, but filling starts with the dial off and cord unplugged; the unit is not an in-use-refill system.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact tool list document a padded floor-mop pass?
No. It lists hose-end tools and a shoulder strap, but no mop head or floor pad.
Explore this need in the finder →The Steamfast SF-320 Sidekick is a shoulder-strapped portable boiler with a steam hose, hand trigger and separate accessory nozzle—not a wheeled canister or floor mop. Its manual lists a 33-ounce tank, a variable steam dial and an unusually broad set of handheld tools. Steamfast now identifies the exact model as discontinued and unavailable, so this review is useful to existing owners comparing a kit, not a prompt to buy a used unit.
The boiler rides; the working hand stays at the nozzle
The exact SF-320 guide shows a carry handle and shoulder strap on the main tank, a steam hose and a grip with a trigger. Pressing the trigger releases steam on demand; a separate lock can hold the trigger for continuous output. A dial on the boiler turns the unit on and adjusts intensity, with more clockwise travel producing more steam. That is more control than the SF-292's LOW/HIGH task settings, but it is still a body-mounted dial rather than adjustment at the working grip. The guide does not document numbered intensity steps or a pressure gauge.
This is the right shape for carrying a small boiler near the job while using a separate hand tool. It is not described as a wheeled machine, and the original contents diagram does not list an extension pole, mop head or floor pad. A brush may suit a specific permitted detail or spot task, but it does not make the SF-320 a padded floor mop or a carpet extractor. There is no liquid pickup.
The included tools cover distinct household passes
The manual's package list includes a jet nozzle, fabric nozzle, glass squeegee, scrub tool, nylon and brass utility brushes, a corner tool with separate scrub and sponge pads, shoulder strap and measuring cup. The fabric nozzle can refresh compatible fabric; the squeegee is for smooth glass; the jet nozzle accepts the scrub tool and brushes. These different setups add flexibility if an owner needs fixture, window and selected fabric work, but they do not operate at the same time. Steamfast warns not to connect or remove accessories while steam is emitting and cautions that rough pads or bristles can damage delicate finishes, including stainless steel. Test first where a surface is uncertain.
For upholstery or clothing, the guide calls for a discreet test and excludes synthetic fabrics, velvet and other steam-sensitive material. It suggests the lowest dial position to reduce spotting on fabric. Do not translate its broad tool list into permission for every textile, coating, polished finish or food-contact surface; follow the material maker and wipe loosened soil as directed.
More water and longer cord do not mean an unlimited session
The linked guide lists 33 ounces maximum, approximately 30 seconds to heat and around 30 minutes of continuous steam. The estimates are approximate, not independent measurements or guaranteed cleaning time. The manual says to fill with water only and strongly recommends distilled or demineralized water to reduce mineral deposits; the current Steamfast FAQ says tap water may be used depending on hardness. Drain the tank after use and keep up with the guide's mineral-care steps. Do not add a cleaner to the reservoir during normal use.
The published unit weight is 5 pounds; dimensions are 12 by 6.3 by 10 inches, with a 13.1-foot power cord. The manual does not give a hose-length measurement or a separately weighed loaded accessory package. The unit-weight line therefore should not be mistaken for the total of water, strap and every tool, nor should an absent hose figure be guessed from the product photo. A 13.1-foot cord is shorter than the SF-292's 19 feet, so outlet placement and safe cord routing matter.
Refilling and storing call for a pause
The filling procedure starts with the steam dial off and the power cord unplugged; the tank cap is unscrewed and the reservoir is emptied before filling. Steamfast says to use no more than the 33-ounce maximum and secure the cap before use. The guide also says to let the appliance cool for at least 15 minutes for complete cooling, empty the tank and remove accessories before storage. Keep hands away from the hot nozzle, and do not turn the unit upside down casually because hot water can remain inside. Its directions make clear that a bigger tank is not an in-use refill feature.
How it compares with other reviewed formats
The discontinued SF-292 supplies a smaller 15-ounce body and a longer 19-foot cord, but can convert to an upright mop with a pad; it has no documented trigger lock and reports only LOW/HIGH intensity settings. The SF-320 gives up that floor setup for a larger reservoir, shoulder strap, remote hose and trigger-lock operation. Choose between them by the exact task and routine, not a model-number ladder.
The McCulloch MC1230 is another handheld/portable detail option, but its 6-ounce tank and compact brush/jet set are a different package without the SF-320's fabric nozzle and squeegee. Someone who needs an actual padded floor pass should compare a reviewed canister such as the McCulloch MC1275 instead; that brings a floor head and its own larger system but is not a shoulder-strapped Sidekick. Check each exact model's present availability and included accessories separately. Steamfast's SF-320 page says the Sidekick is discontinued and no longer for sale.
