A useful fit for

A demanding home or professional-use configuration when continuous water top-ups, a separate detergent-injection system and adjustable pressure are specifically useful.

The main tradeoff

Its 28-pound body, separate water/detergent management and 15-amp rating call for room, storage and circuit planning; detergent injection is an extra system rather than a requirement for every clean.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you want to refill the separate water tank during a session?

Yes. The exact Hill manual describes continuous steam technology and permits topping up its separate water tank during operation, up to 3 liters.

Does a documented clean-water tank clear an 80-ounce minimum?

The exact page and manual identify a maximum 3-liter clean-water tank (about 101 ounces), separate from the boiler and detergent tank.

Is pure distilled water an essential requirement?

The manual specifies normal tap water and recommends a tap/distilled mix in very hard-water areas; it does not establish plain distilled-only as the exact required setup.

The Dupray Hill Injection is the most specialized of these four Dupray canisters: it combines a separate clean-water tank that can be replenished during operation with a distinct detergent-injection tank, adjustable steam pressure and a digital display. Dupray describes it as commercial-grade but designed for both home and professional use. Its purpose is not simply to be a bigger Neat; it is for longer or more demanding jobs where these extra systems are useful.

Separate tanks make the operating plan

The Hill’s manual specifies a 3-liter maximum clean-water tank and says it can be refilled at any time during operation. It has a separate 600-milliliter detergent tank; its instructions keep detergent separate from the boiler and describe a diluted cleaner for the injection system. Do not pour detergent, vinegar or other solutions into the boiler. This system is useful when detergent injection is genuinely part of the chosen job, but unnecessary if you want steam with water alone. The separate water top-up feature also sets Hill apart from Tosca’s cooled-boiler refill procedure and Neat’s 20-minute cooling step.

Dupray lists up to 345°F, 121 psi, a seven-minute heating time and “unlimited” cleaning time. Those are product specifications and an operating claim, not a prediction of surface temperature, soil-removal speed or a fixed nonstop work duration. The maker also lists a 1.5-liter boiler, a 3-liter clean-water tank, a 600-milliliter detergent tank, 1,600 watts at 120 volts/15 amps, a roughly 9-foot-10-inch hose and 14-foot-9-inch cord, and a 28-pound weight. The display reports pressure and temperature and the page says pressure is adjustable. Because the clean-water and boiler volumes describe different vessels, they must not be added together as a single refill amount.

The kit and pressure features require judgment

The 27-piece kit includes a floor tool, lance, triangle and window tools, brushes, pads, bonnets, extension tubes and a carrying case. Dupray identifies the machine for floors, grout, appliances, windows, upholstery and other tasks. These are separate attachments and materials, not a guarantee that any steam level or brush is safe everywhere. Reserve abrasive brass or stainless brushes for surfaces whose maker permits that contact. Use a cloth or bonnet where required, and check whether a delicate fabric, painted finish, adhesive or floor coating can tolerate heat and moisture. The manual warns against unsealed, unfinished or worn floors and delicate, heat-sensitive materials; a small hidden-area test does not replace the surface manufacturer’s advice.

The manufacturer’s account says the machine uses a self-cleaning boiler with a maintenance reminder and periodic boiler draining. Treat this as maintenance, not as a no-care claim. The display and extra controls add information but also make setup more involved than an on/off compact canister. With a 28-pound body, hose, accessories and a separate detergent supply, this is not the easiest choice for moving between levels or for a cramped apartment closet. It is also rated at 15 amps, so follow the manual’s circuit guidance instead of sharing a circuit with another high-wattage appliance.

Hill, Tosca, and the compact Neats

Choose Hill over Tosca when refill-during-use or the detergent-injection arrangement is essential. Tosca is a slightly lighter large canister with a 25-piece kit and published up-to-90-minute session, but its manual specifies boiler cool-down before refilling. The product table and manual also conflict on its water amount, so do not select it by the larger table volume without resolving that discrepancy. Hill’s 3-liter water-tank maximum and continuous top-up procedure are explicit in its manual. Compared with Neat Plus, Hill adds more reach and professional-oriented tank/control features, but costs more space, lifting effort and setup complexity. For ordinary floor mopping or short detail jobs, the Neat Plus may be easier to live with.

Dupray names a manufacturer detergent for the injection tank, but the existence of that function is not a reason to add chemicals to every task. A buyer who does not need detergent should use the maker-approved water-only steam setup; a buyer who does need it should read the exact instructions for dilution, compatible accessory and surface first. Use only the manufacturer's approved or specified cleaner in the separate detergent reservoir. Do not use the system on a material whose finish maker prohibits water, heat or detergent.

Manufacturer basis: Dupray’s exact U.S. Hill Injection product page, support page and instruction manual. Identity, dual tanks, the 3-liter water-tank limit and refill-during-use procedure are directly documented; no independent lab test or owned-unit evaluation is claimed. The marketed temperature, pressure and unlimited-runtime wording should not be interpreted as a measured home result.
