Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you want one corded unit for a padded floor pass and separate small-detail setups?
The FX08's exact kit includes a floor extension and pad plus a detachable hand unit with a pivoting head and small tools. These are separate arrangements, not simultaneous floor-and-counter cleaning.
Explore this need in the finder →Would the included squeegee be useful for a glass task, with other tools used separately?
The exact U.S. page lists a window squeegee. The shared manual identifies its low-flow setting and a squeegee sock for compatible soft surfaces; check the exact package if that sock is essential.
Explore this need in the finder →Can you work with the 17-ounce tank, clean tap water and two selectable flow settings?
The North American manual gives a 17-fl-oz (0.5-L) tank, clean tap water, distilled water as a hard-water recommendation, and separate high/low steam buttons. It does not permit an in-use refill.
Explore this need in the finder →The BLACK+DECKER BHSM15FX08 is a corded steam mop whose hand-held boiler clicks onto a floor extension and can also work with small tools. Its useful difference from a floor-only mop is the separate countertop and detail setup, not suction or a bigger boiler. This exact U.S. kit includes a small pivoting head, brushes and a window squeegee. It is also distinct from the BHSM15FX10: the FX08 package does not include the dedicated garment-steamer attachment or wall-storage kit.
One steam unit, several separate arrangements
For floors, attach the hand unit to the extension, fit the floor head and use its microfiber cloth. The exact U.S. manual lists sealed hardwood and laminate, linoleum, vinyl, ceramic tile, stone and marble for indoor household use. It does not override a floor maker that forbids steam. Clear loose dirt before mopping, keep the head moving, and do not let hot steam dwell on a vulnerable edge or finish.
For smaller work, detach the hand unit and fit the pivoting mop head with its smaller cloth, or use an included detail brush, grout tool or window squeegee as the relevant surface permits. The exact FX08 page marks an upholstery brush and the shared manual includes a squeegee sock in its component list, which creates a separate soft-surface arrangement. That is not the same thing as the FX10’s dedicated garment head: if regular clothing care is the reason you want a steamer, check whether that garment attachment is essential and compare the exact model numbers. Neither system extracts spills or washes carpet.
Match the package, not just the family name
The manufacturer markets this kit as having six attachments and lists a floor extension, a floor pad (SMP20), a small pivoting mop head, a small pad (SMP60), an adapter, a small nylon brush, a metal-grate brush, a grout brush, a window squeegee and an accessory bag. That component list is more useful than a broad “multi-purpose” label because each job still requires a tool change. The manual’s common parts diagram covers both BHSM15FX08 and BHSM15FX10, but it explicitly marks the garment-steamer head and sock, wall storage and on-pole storage as FX10-only. Do not order a generic BHSM15 listing without matching the suffix and contents.
High and low steam, with a modest tank
The North American manual gives a 17-fluid-ounce (0.5-liter) water tank and two discrete high/low steam buttons on the hand-held unit. That is useful adjustment, but not a continuous dial. The manual associates lower flow with the squeegee and higher flow with several small brushes; use the page’s exact tool instructions rather than assuming that one setting suits every surface. Heater warmup is about 30 seconds, although the manual says a first fill or a dry system can take up to 45 seconds to produce steam.
Use clean tap water and no chemical additives; the manual recommends distilled water in hard-water areas. It does not offer an at-any-time tank top-up. Before filling or swapping the adapter and attachments, switch off, unplug and let the unit cool as directed. That pause, along with the need to handle several warm parts, makes the kit less appealing if you want uninterrupted floor coverage or the least possible setup.
Plan for storage and safe surface tests
The product page lists a weight and dimensions, but the separate FX08 and FX10 pages publish different values for the same basic steam unit and do not explain whether the figures describe packaging, the bare body or an assembled mop. I would not treat them as confirmed carry-weight or shelf-clearance measurements. The FX08’s accessory bag keeps small tools together, but there is no FX10 wall-mount storage set in this package. Before using steam on a countertop, glass, grout or upholstery, follow the material maker’s guidance, test a hidden spot and use the exact head and flow level the manual specifies. A product’s general list of surfaces does not make every finish compatible.
Who should consider BHSM15FX08?
It makes sense when a buyer wants a floor pad plus occasional small-surface work from one corded unit and accepts changing tools, cooling periods and a 17-ounce reservoir. It is more capable than the HSM13E1 for separate detail tasks, while the BHSM15FX10 is the closer comparison if a dedicated garment attachment and wall storage would genuinely be used. Neither is a carpet extractor, wallpaper remover or liquid-recovery cleaner. In the questionnaire, the FX08 can cover separate floor and detail passes, two selectable flow levels, and the model-listed squeegee route; it should not pass a requirement that specifically asks for the FX10 garment-steamer nozzle.

| Controls and operation | The manufacturer describes high and low steam flow. A new fill or a system run dry can require up to 45 seconds before steam appears even though heater warmup is about 30 seconds. |
| Supplied tools and setups | The exact U.S. FX08 page lists the unit, floor extension and pad SMP20, small pivoting mop and pad SMP60, adapter, small nylon brush, metal-grate brush, grout brush, window squeegee and accessory bag. The shared North American manual identifies the garment attachment and garment sock as available only with BHSM15FX10, and its wall/on-pole storage as available only with FX10. The exact FX08 page's kit list does not separately itemize the squeegee sock; verify package contents if that soft cover matters. |
